The gambling sector of Italy has again shown growth in 2011 in spite of various economic problems. According to the statement of manager of CGC (Codere Group Country) of Italy, Massimo Ruta, “In the year 2011, our CGC group achieved remarkable successes in the online gambling sector.”

In fact, last year, online gambling revenues in Italy have shown massive increase to €224 million, which highlights an increase of 63% (approx.).” Ruta added, “Last year, majority of online gambling players have faced tough times, while citizens of Italy gamblers havestrong fascination towards gambling events, as it is the part of their culture.”

Last year, Italian gambling has produced tax revenue worth €9.2 billion. As the Italian government has doubled the tax rates on slot-machine revenues, so it is believed that, the tax revenue would increase this year. Other than this, this is also drastic increase in the rate of problem gambling.
