The Maryland State has recently indicted Calvin Ayre, founder of online gambling website Bodog.com, along with Derrick Maloney, James Phillip and David Ferguson in United States. State has charged them for operating an illegal sports betting company. This company has raised a huge amount worth £62 million in winnings and has planned for laundering of money. The online website Bodog.com has released its latest brand under the license of United Kingdom, but cannot be considered valid in United States.

According to Rod J Rosenstein, Attorney of United States, “Sports betting is considered as illegal in the state of Maryland. Moreover, federal laws avoid bookmakers from violating with the laws as these are situated outside US. Most of harms underlying prohibitions of online gambling activities have been aggravated, whenever the enterprises have operated online gambling activities without regulation.” The indictment has given prime focus from the period of 2005 to 2012.
