This Friday, day before Christmas, Justice Department of United States has done public opinion with respect to a policy related with online gambling. This opinion was actually written in the month of September, but was published on this Friday. The opinion was related with the interpretation of government regarding Wire Act, which put restrictions on the operators of online or telecommunication gambling to expand their gambling business in other states or countries.
The opinion of government until now was that Wire Act is applicable to all types of internet or online gambling activities. However, the opinion of Friday has clarified that provision of Wire Act will be applicable only for sports betting events or other similar contests only. All these drastic changes in US online gambling may lead to significant impact on both land-based and international online gambling industries of US, which massively has increased by 12% to $30 million.
