Lately, a study of online gambling has been conducted in Quebec. The study was sponsored by the state, and was a quite big scale study. The study was carried out aiming to look into the gambling tendencies of those living in Quebec.

They conducted some interviews with 11,888 individuals during the year of 2009, and all the answers played an important role in this study. Each interview required around 12 minutes in order to gather enough information from each interviewee.

The Concordia University professor, Sylvia Kairouz was one of the staffs who conducted the study. As well as being a professor at the university, she is also a director of the Concordia University's Lifestyle and Addiction Research Laboratory. She commented: "There is a considerably higher spending by people who are gambling online, that is a fact."

The study indicated that people who don’t gamble online spend a notably lower amount on average per year; the average figure came out as $527. The median annual spending of online gamblers turned out to be whopping $856.
